Activity | Building a walking and cycling path |
Construction timing |
This trail will being built in three phases. Phase two of construction will be completed in July 2022. |
Overview |
This multi-agency project involves Greater Wellington, Hutt City Council, Wellington Water and Waka Kotahi. Greater Wellington and Hutt City Council have declared a climate emergency and are committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions to support the national Net Zero New Zealand 2050 climate goal. Making it easy for more people to walk or cycle to the places that matter to them is one way we can help support wider emission reduction goals. It’s good for you, and good for the environment. The Manor Park pathway, which runs through the golf club carpark to Silverstream Bridge, will complete the missing link for the Hutt River Trail along the western side of Te Awa Kairangi / Hutt River. Looking to the future, when Te Ara Tupua coastal cycleway is complete, people will be able to cycle between Wellington and Upper Hutt via the coastal path and the Hutt River Trail. |
Updates |
Work on this project began early September 2021. Phase two of path construction will be completed in July 2022.
