I am standing in this by-election to ensure the Wairarapa continues to have a strong, practical voice at the Greater Wellington Regional Council following the sad passing of Adrienne Staples. Having competed alongside Adrienne, I acknowledge her commitment to our rural communities. I will ensure the vital work she championed, including regional rail investment and robust flood protection is completed, albeit with closer community involvement. However, as we face rising rates and urban-centric policies, I offer a fresh perspective. I will be a straight-talking advocate for our farmers and small businesses, demanding fiscal responsibility and a fair deal for the Wairarapa in regional decision-making as we move towards amalgamation. With deep roots in our community, local business experience, and six years as a SWDC Councillor, I am prepared to serve with integrity and common sense.
