As this free event is extremely limited, we ask that if you have attended this event before to reconsider registering to give others a chance to visit this area of the park. A limit of two registrations per person applies.

Two hikers gaze up at the treetopsExperience the majesty of a guided walk into a 1,000-year-old forest normally closed to the public. You’ll feel as though you have stepped back in time walking past the enormous native rātā and rimu trees. Listen to the sounds of the forest and the music of the tūī. Feel the sunlight playing through the leaves while you smell the scent of the trees and the clean fresh air. Meanwhile, our knowledgeable park ranger will share stories about the natural heritage of the park.

This walk is restricted to 20 people, so get in quick! This walk will require a moderate fitness level. Please note that this walk is NOT suitable for children under 14 years of age. Make sure you bring your lunch, snacks, hat and a water bottle.

No dogs are permitted in this area of the park, please leave your dogs at home,
