We have made the decision to postpone the Lighthouses and Lakes Walk event until next year due to move to the Red Traffic Light. Keep an eye out next year for our Summer Events 2023.

Vaccine passes are required for anyone above the age of 12 years, 3 months to attend this event. Please have your My Vaccine Pass ready on arrival.

Discover the hidden gem of the Parangarahu Lakes area, nestled against the rugged South Coast. You’ll experience stunning views of Wellington Harbour and the Cook Straight. Learn why the area is significant to iwi, and learn about the unique history of Pencarrow Lighthouse.

Bookings required.

There are two walks to choose from depending on your level of fitness; one up to look inside the lighthouse or a flatter lakeside stroll by the Kohangapiripiri Lake.

Make sure you bring your lunch and snacks, suitable walking shoes, sun protection, layers and a light rain coat. Please note, this is an exposed site and no shelter.

There are only 50 spaces on a bus that will transport you to and from the lake entrance - 14 km return. A face covering is required to be worn while on the bus.
