Greater Wellington is responsible for checking that consent holders comply with their consent conditions. We do that through our Strategic Compliance Monitoring Programme. This programme focusses on prioritising monitoring consents based on various risk factors. What this means is that some consents may be intensively monitored whilst others may not be monitored at all.

Once compliance monitoring is completed for the year, an overall compliance rating is given as follows:

  • Full compliance (all conditions – no further action required)
  • Low risk non-compliance (most conditions met – some action may be required)
  • Moderate non-compliance (some conditions not met – action required)
  • Significant non-compliance (many conditions are not met – immediate action required)
