Join us for a rewarding afternoon helping restore Battle Hill Farm Forest Park at our community planting day.

Greater Wellington and the Friends of Battle Hill group will be planting in two key areas — the new oak wetland and the airstrip wetland — helping to improve biodiversity and strengthen these important habitats for future generations.

We’ll wrap up the day with a BBQ to celebrate your mahi.

This planting day is perfect for those who enjoy a bit of physical activity as you’ll be carrying plants and digging holes.

What to bring and wear

  • Sturdy boots or gumboots
  • Long sleeves and pants, and a waterproof jacket
  • Warm layers — a hat or beanie is a good idea
  • A spare change of clothes (the site can be very exposed)
  • Your own spade and gloves if you prefer your own
  • Water bottle and snacks

 We’ll provide

  • Plants and planting tools
  • Gloves, but feel free to bring your own
  • An experienced team leader
  • Health and safety briefing and support
  • Hot drinks and a sausage sizzle

Meeting point: The Dell (over the bridge and to the right).
