Regional councillors will hear from Predator Free Wellington on their conservation efforts at an Environmental Committee meeting on Thursday 27 April.

This update comes as Predator Free Wellington begins Phase 2 of the predator eradication programme. On 18 May 2021, Greater Wellington announced it would provide $2.5M in funding to Predator Free Wellington from 2023/24 – 2027/28.

Greater Wellington’s commitment to preserving and advocating for the natural environment is reflected in its contribution to this world-first urban eradication programme.

The project is currently focused on the Miramar peninsula. The next phase of the Predator Free Wellington project will see eradication efforts move further into Wellington City.

Media are welcome to attend the Environment Committee meeting online or in person.
