Greater Wellington accepts charges for unconsented maintenance works

Greater Wellington has laid and accepted two charges against itself for unconsented maintenance works on the Birchville Dam in Upper Hutt which caused a discharge of sediment and damage to the stream.

Greater Wellington, as the regulator, carried out the investigation into the discharge. The two charges are for breaches of section 15 and section 13 of the Resource Management Act 1991. 

No further comment will be made in relation to the investigation whilst this matter is before the courts.
