Join us for a special community planting by the Waikanae River
Join us for a special community planting event by the Waikanae River at Edgewater Park, as we come together to restore and rejuvenate this important natural space.
Following last year’s removal of large poplar tree and the successful planting day last year, Greater Wellington Regional Council is leading a re-vegetation effort to plant the area in addition with what we’ve already planted another 2,000 locally sourced native trees. This initiative is about restoring the health and biodiversity of our river corridor.
We’re proud to be partnering with Parikawau Group, Te Āti Awa, Friends of the Waikanae River, Kāpiti Coast District Council (KCDC), and up to 100 Students from two local Kura (schools) Kapakapanui School and Waikanae School to bring this vision to life.
This is a community effort, and we warmly invite local residents, whānau, and nature lovers to get involved. Whether you're planting your first tree or your hundredth, your contribution will help enhance the environment for generations to come.
BBQ lunch provided for all volunteers.
