Is it safe to swim?

Check our swimming water quality page to make sure that it's safe to swim

For those of you doing training swims in the harbour we have these approximate distances:

The distance from Freyberg Beach to the Point Jerningham lighthouse is 1265 metres. For distances between the buoys, please refer to the map below.  The distance between the two swim rafts is about 240 metres.

Keep safe by:

  1. Wearing a bright coloured cap and swim safety floats
  2. Staying within the 5 knot area
  3. Keeping a lookout for approaching boats
