Checks are free. Every trailer that goes through a prep check will receive a voucher for a WOF inspection and go into the draw to win a free VHF radio.

  • To book call Boat City of (04) 298 5931 (push #4 for Admin)

Checks happen between 9am to 4pm. You will need to book your slot in advance, as spaces are limited.

There will also be free giveaways and a sausage sizzle for the kids

Every trailer that goes through a prep check will recieve a voucher for a WOF inspection.

Come along and get boat safe as well as having a chance to win a free VHF. Remember if you can’t call for help, no-one can rescue you so always take two forms of communication out on the water with you.

Moorings and launching boats

The Wellington region has two magnificent harbours and 500 kms of coastline which together make a wonderful playground for boaties.

Boat owners with keel boats or launches need a space to keep their boats. Wellington Harbour has several marinas to chose from. These offer a convenient and safe berth for boats.  Our marinas and pole moorings page has contact details

Another option is a swing mooring, cheaper but with potentially significant downfalls.

Owners of trailer boats need launching ramps at one the following locations to get their vessels in and out of the water:

Apart from the swing moorings all these facilities are owned, operated or maintained by other organisations. Please contact them directly for information on, or comments about their facilities.
