Monitoring of possum density

The following possum recording device abbreviations are used in the map hover labels and table:

Map arrows indicate change in possum density from the previous monitoring cycle to the current cycle when “Change from years 1-5 to 6-10” is selected. When a single cycle is selected, shades of blue indicate low numbers or no possums recorded, while shades of red indicate moderate to high densities of possums in that monitoring area. Site circles are scaled by relative density and the first letter of each density category overlayed as text.

Gaps in the sampling grid are for Lake Wairarapa, access being refused to some plots on private land and plots being decommissioned; see the overview map for locations and the methods page for monitoring details.

Usage guide. Drag, scroll, and use the top right +/- buttons on the map to move and zoom to areas of interest. Hover over circles to see more information for each plot. Toggle between layers in the top right "Map layers" box to see different plot information and click on the checkboxes to show/hide high-level landcover classifications ("LUCAS landcover") and aerial imagery ("LINZ 2016/17 aerial photos") baselayers. Click the box on the top left ( ) to open a selection window on the map that can be dragged and resized to filter the table data below to sites in the selected area.

Groups of cells are shaded grey in the table below and number of devices asterisked when less than the planned number of devices were able to be sampled. Dashes (‘-’) indicate sites where that monitoring device was not used.

Click on table rows to highlight those sites on the map above and click on table headers or the arrows next to them (
) to sort the data by that column.
