Macroinvertebrates

MCI class

Macroinvertebrate community index (MCI) results for the period 2017/18 to 2019/20 with the three year median scores benchmarked against GWRC MCI class and Proposed Natural Resource Plan (PNRP) guidelines. Modelled grades (coloured lines on the map) are shown for River Environment Classification reaches order three and above. See methods for details on modelling and benchmarks.

Drag and scroll on the map to move and zoom in on areas of interest, hover on the site circles and river lines to see more information, click the top right checkboxes to show/hide layers (double clicking will bring that layer to the front), and use the selection box on the top left of the map ( ) to subset table data.

Click on table rows to highlight those sites on the map above and click on table headers or the arrows next to them ( ↓↑ ) to sort that column.

QMCI & MCI

Quantitative and standard macroinvertebrate community index (QMCI & MCI) results for the period 2015/16 to 2019/20 benchmarked against National Objectives Framework (NOF) guidelines.

Drag and scroll on the map to move and zoom in on areas of interest, hover on the site circles and river lines to see more information, click the top right checkbox to show/hide rivers order three and above on the map, and use the selection box on the top left of the map ( ) to subset table data.

Click on table rows to highlight those sites on the map above and click on table headers or the arrows next to them ( ↓↑ ) to sort that column.

ASPM

Average score per metric (ASPM) results for the period 2015/16 to 2019/20 benchmarked against National Objectives Framework (NOF) guidelines.

% EPT taxa

Number and percentage of (EPT) taxa that are Ephemeroptera (mayfly), Plecoptera (stonefly) and all Trichoptera (caddisfly) except Hydroptilidae results for the period 2017/18 to 2019/20.

Drag and scroll on the map to move and zoom in on areas of interest, hover on the site circles and river lines to see more information, click the top right checkbox to show/hide rivers order three and above on the map, and use the selection box on the top left of the map ( ) to subset table data.

Periphyton + Cyanobacteria

Periphyton biomass

Periphyton biomass (Chlorophyll a mg/m2) results for the period 2017/18 to 2019/20 benchmarked against National Objectives Framework (NOF) guidelines. Modelled grades (coloured lines on the map) are shown for River Environment Classification reaches order three and above. See methods for details on modelling and benchmarks. NOF states are met by no more than 8% (default class rivers) or 12% (productive class rivers) of samples exceeding the state limit shown in the top right legend of the map below.

Drag and scroll on the map to move and zoom in on areas of interest, hover on the site circles and river lines to see more information, click the top right checkboxes to show/hide layers (double clicking will bring that layer to the front), and use the selection box on the top left of the map ( ) to subset table data.

Click on table rows to highlight those sites on the map above and click on table headers or the arrows next to them ( ↓↑ ) to sort that column. n refers to the number of samples and units are mg/m2 unless otherwise noted. Where three years (ie, 36 data points) of data has not been collected, the periphyton attribute state has been extrapolated to represent 36 data points.

Periphyton cover

Periphyton weighted composite cover (WCC) results for the period 2017/18 to 2019/20 benchmarked against a GWRC periphyton nuisance guideline of 30%.

Drag and scroll on the map to move and zoom in on areas of interest, hover on the site circles and river lines to see more information, click the top right checkbox to show/hide rivers order three and above on the map, and use the selection box on the top left of the map ( ) to subset table data.

Cyanobacteria cover

Cyanobacteria mats (% coverage) results for the period 2017/18 to 2019/20.

Drag and scroll on the map to move and zoom in on areas of interest, hover on the site circles and river lines to see more information, click the top right checkbox to show/hide rivers order three and above on the map, and use the selection box on the top left of the map ( ) to subset table data.

Habitat

Habitat quality results for 2019/20. Assessment categories are scored from 1 ("poor") to 10 ("excellent") with an overall score as the total of these out of 100. See methods for details on assessments.
