Restoration Day 2017
Our region is an awesome and beautiful place to work, live and play. Wellingtonians are proud protectors of the forests, rivers, coasts and regional parks on their doorstep. We work to preserve and protect our natural environment and biodiversity, especially in the wake of very real issues such as weather events, natural hazards and climate change.
Greater Wellington Regional Council has a key role in managing biodiversity and the environment. We aim to protect and restore ecosystems in degraded areas where possible. Wellington's community volunteers are vital to our work in protecting the environment and undertaking ecological restoration.
This year, we're hosting Wellington's 21st year of Restoration Day events under the theme 'Next Generation Restoration'. We invite you to join us to help celebrate the work community groups, individuals and volunteers do on an everyday basis.
Restoration Day is your chance to hear (and share) stories, experiences and best-practice techniques for ecological restoration. There is an exciting line-up of activities and speakers, including getting out into the field for some practical training. So bring your walking shoes!
We welcome all community groups and volunteers - whether you're current, new or thinking about how you can get involved.
To book your place, register online by Sunday 7 May at http://www.naturespace.org.nz/wellington-restoration-day-2017
