Discover one of the Wellington Region’s secret places! Within Wainuiomata Water Collection Area is Wainuiomata Mainland Island. It’s home to one of the most significant lowland podocarp forests in the lower North Island and is protected from predators, so that the flora and fauna growing within can thrive.
This old forest walk is an opportunity for you to immerse yourself in the forest and hike beneath Rata and Rimu that are around 1,000 years old.
