Civil Defence Emergency Management
Greater Wellington is part of the Wellington Region Civil Defence Emergency Management (CDEM) Group along with the eight local councils in the region.
The CDEM Group works together to reduce the potential effects of hazard events and to promote community and council readiness (preparedness). It also responds to emergencies and to help the community to recover after an event.
Greater Wellington's Emergency Management Office is responsible for the administration of the CDEM Group and running the Group Emergency Operations Centre during a major emergency.
Check out the new CDEM Group website for information on what you can do to prepare, and how to respond in an emergency. The CDEM Group website provides up to date information during emergencies.
