While faecal contamination is monitored by collecting water samples throughout the year, a predictive model is used to provide real-time information to the public on the suitability of a site for swimming and other recreational activities. The map below displays monitoring sites which are colour-coded to show the proportion of days predicted as being suitable for swimming.
