Regional Land Transport Plan

A Regional Land Transport Plan (RLTP) is the blueprint for a network that will keep the Wellington region vibrant, on the move and enable it to grow and meet future needs.

It also includes a programme of all the land transport activities in the region that we need funding for over the next six years.

A RLTP must be prepared every six financial years by the Regional Transport Committee, in accordance with the consultation principles specified in section 82 of the Local Government Act 2002.

The new RLTP replaces and combines the existing Regional Land Transport Strategy, including all the corridor and implementation plans, and the Regional Land Transport Programme for Wellington.

Regional Public Transport Plan

The Wellington Regional Public Transport Plan (RPTP) sets the direction for public transport in the region for the next 10 years. It gives effect to the public transport service components of the Wellington Regional Land Transport Strategy 2010-2040 (RLTS), and aims to deliver an effective, efficient and integrated transport network for the people of Wellington.

The plan outlines several significant changes to improve the region's public transport, including:

  • Redesigned train services giving people more travel options
  • Simpler bus network with more coverage
  • Modernising our bus fleet
  • Simpler fares with standard discounts across the network.
