Phase Project underway
Activity Erosion protection
Construction timing Construction will begin in April 2024 and is due to be completed by the end of July 2024
Overview

Greater Wellington has identified a section of the Ruamāhanga River along River Road where erosion could put residential properties at risk.

A rock groyne ( rock boulders) and a 150m rock revetment (rock wall) are being built as preventative measures to protect against erosion in this area.

Note: Phase 1 of this project – construction of rock groynes along the former Masterton Landfill – was completed in June 2023.
