Watering restrictions
Watering restrictions are used by all the city and district councils within our region. They apply every year.
The highest levels of demand for water each year usually occur during summer, when much more water is used outside, particularly on gardens. Watering restrictions are intended to spread the demand for water between days more evenly than might otherwise occur; this helps to keep supply costs down and avoid short-term shortages or loss of pressure during dry periods. Restrictions also encourage conservation of water, for instance by requiring that unattended watering is only done during cooler times of day - early morning or evening.
