Wairarapa
The Wairarapa corridor follows State Highway 2 from north of Te Marua, Upper Hutt, over the Rimutaka Hill through to Mount Bruce north of Masterton; and the Wairarapa railway line from north of Maymorn, Upper Hutt through to Masterton; and includes State Highway 53 between Featherston and Martinborough.
The Wairarapa Corridor Plan was adopted by the Regional Transport Committee in July 2010 and is one of several implementation plans that sit alongside the Regional Land Transport Strategy. The plan provides a framework, for all partner agencies, for the desired future development of the transport network through Wairarapa.
The plan was developed by Greater Wellington, the NZ Transport Agency and Masterton, Carterton and South Wairarapa district councils, with input - through a consultative process - from other interest groups and members of the public.
A Background and Issues paper, prepared as part of the review, identified the potential pressures on the transport network through Wairarapa, and helped inform the development of this plan which responds to those pressures and needs.
