Wainuiomata Hunting Ballot

Updated 31 January 2018 12:42pm

The Hunting Ballot is now open for 2018 - Wainuiomata and Orongorongo Water Catchment

The Greater Wellington Regional Council is organising independently supervised ballot for hunting blocks in the Wainuiomata and Orongorongo Water Collection Areas during April 2018.

Ballot entries must be received by 12noon, Thursday 1 March 2018. The ballot draw will be held on Friday 2 March 2018. Winners of the ballots will be notified by Friday 9 March 2018.

Wainuiomata and Orongorongo Water Catchments

These catchments are normally closed to the public. The hunting will play a part in controlling animals in the water collection area and help improve water quality.

Ten hunting blocks are available for four periods of three days from Friday to Sunday. The hunting will commence on Friday 6 April to Sunday 29 April 2018.

To enter the ballot, hunters (only one entry per person) should obtain a Ballot Entry Form and a Recreational Hunting Booklet. The cost to enter the ballot is $5 (non-refundable) by internet banking or EFTPOS at the Upper Hutt Office. The bank account details can be found on the Ballot Entry Form. Those successful in the ballot will be required to pay a further fee of $20 for each three-day period.

To enter the ballot download the following documents and include a copy of your Firearms Licence when you email/post through your application form.
