The Greater Wellington Regional Council is organising independently supervised ballots for hunting blocks in the Wainuiomata and Orongorongo Water Collection Areas and East Harbour Regional Park during the end of March and April 2016.

Ballot entries must be received by 12noon on Thursday 25 February 2016. The ballots will be held on Monday 29 February 2016. Winners of the ballots will be notified by Friday, 4 March 2016. Those successful in the ballot will be required to pay a further fee of $20 for each five-day period.

These catchments are normally closed to the public. The hunting will play a part in controlling animals in the water collection area and help improve water quality.

Ten hunting blocks are available for four periods of five days.

To enter the ballot, hunters (only one entry per person) should obtain an information pack (including a ballot entry form) by sending a cheque, $5 non-refundable, to Wainuiomata Hunting Ballot, Greater Wellington Regional Council, PO Box 40847, Upper Hutt 5140. Alternatively if you prefer to pay by internet banking please contact Karen Broughan on 04 830 4406 or email karen.broughan@gw.govt.nz
