Waikanae River Walkover 2018 Back to Events calendar

The Flood Protection Department of Greater Wellington Regional Council invites you to the 2018 Waikanae River Walkover.

The annual walkover of the river will take place to:

  • Allow people to identify and discuss issues relating to operations and maintenance works carried out under the operational maintenance resource consent held by Flood Protection;
  • Monitor implementation of the Waikanae Floodplain Management Plan; and
  • View environmental enhancement and restoration works in progress

For catering purposes, please confirm your attendance with Amanda Death by 18th October 2018. We look forward to seeing you there.

When: Tuesday, 23rd October 2018, starting at 9:00am (event finished 6 months ago)
Where: Karu Reserve car park on the river bank. South side of the road (downstream of the old State Highway One bridge, Main Road, Waikanae
Bring: Please bring suitable clothing in case of bad weather, and ensure that you wear sturdy footwear

Getting there:

 We will be meeting at the Karu Reserve car park on the river bank, south side of the road (downstream of the old State Highway One bridge) at 9.00am. Greater Wellington staff will be on hand to direct parking. A light lunch will be provided en route at midday. We expect to finish the walkover by 2.30pm at the Waikanae Estuary (Waiheke Street). We will have buses available to take people back to their cars at the starting location.
