Trentham Station bridge re-opened
The re-opened footbridge at Trentham Station is a welcome sight for regular train users.
The bridge was closed for essential safety repairs several months ago and the work took longer than expected due to an accident when the span was being painted.
Paul Swain, the Regional Council’s Public Transport Portfolio Leader, thanked local residents for their patience. “Now that the bridge is open people will have a much shorter walk to and from thetrain. They can be assured that the bridge is safer and it looks so much better.”
Along with the much improved bridge, new lighting and fresh new Metlink information signs, including a totem, will be installed on the platform within the next two months.
The station building is also being repaired with a view to leasing it to community groups.
