Greater Wellington's sustainable business programmes have been running since 2006. Businesses involved reported benefits including:
- Increase in profits from improving efficiencies, reducing waste and increasing client base due to demonstrated environmental credentials

- Economical (thanks to a government subsidy along with the lower cost of the EnviroMark-NZ process)and easy to follow staged approach to gaining environmental accreditation ISO14001. Booker~Spalding - a manufacturer specialising in the supply of corporate uniforms. Located in the Hutt Valley.
BRANZ - an independent and impartial research, testing, consulting and information company providing services and resources for the building industry. Located in Porirua.
Formway Furniture - is a designer of high performance office seating and furniture. They manufacture and market products directly throughout New Zealand and Australia as well as licensing products globally. Located in Wellington city and in the Hutt Valley.
Lithoprint - is an offset and digital printer based in Wellington city.
Label & Litho - major supplier of self-adhesive labeling to the New Zealand market - with particular emphasis on quality food, wine and beverage labeling. They are based in the Hutt Valley.
Neale Printers - is a small commercial offset printer situated in Wellington city.
Thames Publications - is a commercial printer based in Wellington city.
