Survival Kit
We recommend having an emergency survival kit at home and at the office.
If you prefer to keep your emergency survival kit items in the house for everyday use, make sure you know where to find them when there's an emergency.

Workplace emergency survival kit
Occupational Safety and Health legislation requires all employers to develop procedures for dealing with emergencies that may arise while employees are at work.
Every employee is responsible for their own health and safety in the workplace, including being aware of emergency evacuation procedures and knowing the location of safety equipment and materials.
An emergency can be anything from a fire or hazardous substance spill to a major earthquake or flooding event.
We recommend that both employers and employees be prepared for an emergency.
Basic supplies for a personal emergency survival kit
Check to see if your employer has emergency survival supplies in your workplace. In addition to what they may have, we recommend individuals prepare themselves and have the following items handy to where you work:
- emergency water
- non-perishable foods
- battery operated radio and spare batteries
- essential medications
- emergency lighting (torch and spare batteries, lightsticks)
- blanket and warm waterproof clothing, sensible shoes.
Store your emergency survival items in strong, waterproof containers. Place your kit in an easily accessible, safe place. Discourage everyday use of items in the kit such as the torch and radio. Organise regular testing of batteries and rotate or renew items that have passed their use by date (eg. muesli bars, canned food etc).
