The group formed in 2007 to restore a section of the Whangaehu River back to its natural state to improve its water quality, biodiversity and amenity values. The river was recently choked with large crack willow trees which caused the build up of silt and created a flooding risk. A combination of spraying and physical removal will prevent the willows from resprouting.
Revegetation of the stream banks with local native plants will commence this planting season.
