Steady progress at Upper Hutt Station

Upper Hutt Station is a hive of activity - even outside peak hours – in preparation for an attractive new station building.

GWRC’s new building will have a bright, spacious waiting area along with a kiosk, ticket office, public toilet and facilities for train and bus staff.

Work began in January to lay the groundwork for the new station. New stormwater pipes have been  installed to keep the platform and track free of excess water when it rains.

Poles have been put in place for new lights to make the platform brighter. And foundations have been laid for new shelters along the southern end of the platform, which will be the only area for people to wait for their trains when construction of the new building gets under way within the next few months.

The area is a busy construction site now so passengers are urged to take care on the platform and coming to and from the station as surfaces are uneven in places.

Shuttle bus services will continue to run between Upper Hutt, Wallaceville and Trentham Stations from 9am-3pm weekdays.
