The Whakatikei, Valley View, Hukinga, Maungakotukutuku, Akatarawa Saddle, and Puketiro blocks are exotic plantation forestry areas that are managed primarily for commercial purposes. Once each area has been logged, Greater Wellington may issue consents for individuals or merchants to collect firewood from designated areas.

There is a cost of $20 for the consent, and a $100 bond for gate keys (refunded on return of the keys). You will need to sign off a Hazard Identification Sheet and the Health and Safety Guidelines.

Contact the Upper Hutt office for more information.
