The best place to study and learn about ecosystems, our place in
the natural world and how we affect nature is outdoors. Through
environmental education, individuals learn to appreciate and care
for the natural world.
Kaitoke Regional Park is a great place for a school excursion.
The
ranger
is available for up to two hours
free of charge to guide walking tours in the
rainforest. The tours also include visits to the water intake
weir, flume bridge and strainer house. Please contact him to
arrange a suitable time.
Should you wish to stay longer, the grassy tree lined
campsite is ideal for school groups. Camping fees are
$2 per night for students and $5 per night for adults.
Tours of Te Marua water treatment plant are run separately.
