There are lots of great ways to promote active and sustainable travel in your school. Here you will find events, ideas, activities and resources to help you:
Movin'Mail is the the Wellington Region's School Travel Plan Programme e-news where schools can find useful tips and resources for encouraging children to use safe and sustainable travel to and from school.
Greater Wellington staff work with our road safety partners to establish a culture of safe and active transport for the journey to school.

From the 26-30 March 2012 students will celebrate young walkers, cyclists, scooter riders and skateboarders for their contribution to the region’s environmental and physical wellbeing.
Choose your own way to celebrate Movin’March. Focus on active travel in whatever way suits your school – walk, cycle, scoot, skate, have a theme day, dress-up, write a story, do a survey, there are endless possibilities.
If you’re looking for a way to encourage long term active travel at your school then a Walk & Wheel promotion could be a good place to start. It’s easy to run and you can adapt it to your school's needs. We've developed some great resources to help you with your promotion.
Walk to School Day Planning Guide
A Walk Your Parent to School Day could provide a fun and safe environment for parents and children who don’t normally walk to school, to give it a go. Check out the tips in this guide for running your Walk Your Parent to School Day.
Feet First encourages primary school students to walk to school once a week. The website provides some great resources for teachers and parents.
Bike Wise is a nationally coordinated event that promotes safety and biking as a sustainable, fun, healthy and enjoyable means of transport. The website provides resources and contacts for running your own local event.
