In the second half of 2016 the Ruamāhanga Whaitua Committee asked the community for your ideas for solutions to land and water management locally. Community meetings were held at Pirinoa, Kopuaranga, Whangaehu, Gladstone, Featherston, Carterton, Masterton, Martinborough and Greytown. A brochure was sent to every household in the catchment and an online forum was available for online feedback.
The committee asked 3 questions of the community:
Notes from the meetings can be found below, along with the postal responses from the brochures. The online forum responses can be accessed here.
The communities ideas for solutions will feed into the committee's design of scenarios (potential futures to test) and into their final recommendations to Greater Wellington Regional Council in their Whaitua Implementation Programme report.
