- Regional Air Quality Management Plan

The Regional Air Quality Management Plan became operative on 8 May 2000. Change 1 to the Regional Air Quality Management Plan was made operative on1 September 2003.
- Regional Coastal Plan

The Regional Coastal Plan became operative on 19 June 2000. It applies to the coastal marine area of the Wellington region.
- Regional Freshwater Plan

The Regional Freshwater Plan became operative on 17 December 1999. It applies to all types of activities that use freshwater or that are in the beds of rivers and lakes.
- Proposed Regional Policy Statement

The Resource Management Act 1991 requires all regional councils to produce a regional policy statement for their region and then review it every 10 years to promote the purpose of the Act.
- Regional Soil Plan

The Regional Soil Plan became operative on 9 October 2000. Change 1 to the Regional Soil Plan was made operative on 1 September 2003. The change affected the plan's definition of "soil". There were no changes to the rules.
- Plan for discharges to land

The Regional Plan for Discharges to Land[glossary/] became operative on 17 December 1999. Change 1 to the Regional Plan for Discharges to Land became operative on 1 September 2003.
- Resource Management (Marine Pollution) Regulations

The Resource Management (Marine Pollution) Regulations were made by Order in Council on 20 July 1998. These regulations override some rules in the Regional Coastal Plan.
- National Environmental Standards for air quality

The Ministry for the Environment introduced national environment standards for air quality in October 2004.
- Wairarapa Coastal Strategy

The Wairarapa Coastal Strategy provides a long-term vision for the Wairarapa coast and recommends actions that the community can take to achieve that vision.
