Proposed changes to Porirua and Tawa bus routes
Thanks for your feedback on changes we are proposing to Porirua and Tawa bus services and routes.
We consulted you on options for change early in 2009 and received more than 650 submissions. The submissions were reviewed, further detailed studies were carried out. Specific changes have been proposed, we are now evaluating your submissions on those and will be doing more work on them with the opeator and Porirua City Council. The changes will take effect later this year.
Key benefits of the proposed changes are:
- Bus routes extended through Porirua city centre
- Later services for Titahi Bay and Whitby
- Improved weekend services
- Improved hospital connections
- One route linking both sides of Porirua between Titahi Bay and Ascot Park
- Direct all day access from Whitby and Papakowhai to Paremata Station
- Increased peak hour frequencies in Titahi Bay and Whitby
You can read more details about the timetables in this brochure.
Outcomes of Porirua and Tawa review
Porirua and Tawa residents were consulted in March / April 2009 on two options for improvements to bus services.
A summary of submissions is available here.
Your feedback has helped Greater Wellington, Mana Coach Services and Porirua City Council finalise the new bus routes.
Information on the new routes was presented in late November to Greater Wellington's Transport and Access Committee and Porirua City Council's City Services Committee.
More details will be available soon and we will seek your feedback again.
