Places to visit
Wellington offers access to some unique centres of native biodiversity. To see some really great examples you don’t need to travel far. Greater Wellington has nine beautiful regional parks and forests all within an hour's drive of Wellington City. These areas are unique, natural areas for recreation, conservation, or just getting away from it all.
Other great places to visit are:

- Otari Native Plant Museum
- Karori Wildlife Sanctuary
- Pukaha Mount Bruce National Wildlife Centre
Many of these places can be reached by public transport.
