Parangarahu lakes, Pencarrow planting day
Did you know there are two nationally significant and breathtaking lakes hidden in East Harbour Regional Park? These lakes are particularly important to the surrounding environment and are home to some special critters. This includes a range of wetland plants, fish, birds, and our native freshwater mussel, the kākahi.
Join us for a day of tree planting near the historic upper Pencarrow light house (New Zealand’s first lighthouse) and on the shores of Kohungapiripiri. Enjoy a day exploring this beautiful section of the coast. There is some walking and plant moving required, so moderate fitness is needed. With Pencarrow lighthouse and the two lakes there is so much to see.
We provide: FREE transport from Burdan’s gate Eastbourne, along the rugged coast to the lower Pencarrow light house at the harbour entrance and onto the entrance of the first lake. Please book your seat as we have limited numbers. No private cars will have access to this road. An experienced team leader, tools, gloves, health and safety management and training will be available.
COVID-19 update: We are following the advice from government and local council on all Covid-19 restrictions. We are required to keep a record of your contact details for contact tracing. If you have any concerns about Covid-19 procedures, please get in touch.
Email email@example.com to book your seat on the bus.
