The Greater Wellington Regional Council has received the following application for a resource consent.

All discharges from stormwater outfall/culverts located on the coastline between Horokiwi in Wellington Harbour and Owhiro Bay on the south coast

Proposal:

To discharge stormwater and occasionally contaminated stormwater (namely untreated wastewater from constructed overflows into the stormwater system) directly into the Coastal Marine Area (CMA) and to land adjacent to the CMA where it may enter the waters of the CMA from stormwater outfalls located between Horokiwi in Wellington Harbour and Owhiro Bay on Wellington’s south coast.

[27418] – Coastal permit to discharge stormwater directly into the Coastal Marine Area (CMA) and to land adjacent to the CMA where it may enter the waters of the CMA from stormwater outfalls located between Horokiwi in Wellington Harbour and Port Dorset on the Miramar Peninsula.
[27419] – Coastal permit to discharge occasionally contaminated stormwater (namely untreated wastewater from constructed overflows into the stormwater system) directly into the Coastal Marine Area (CMA) and to land adjacent to the CMA where it may enter the waters of the CMA from stormwater outfalls located between Horokiwi in Wellington Harbour and Port Dorset on the Miramar Peninsula.
[30500] – Coastal permit to discharge stormwater directly into the Coastal Marine Area (CMA) and to land adjacent to the CMA where it may enter the waters of the CMA from stormwater outfalls located between Port Dorset on the Miramar Peninsula and Owhiro Bay on Wellington’s south coast.
[30501] – Coastal permit to discharge occasionally contaminated stormwater (namely untreated wastewater from constructed overflows into the stormwater system) directly into the Coastal Marine Area (CMA) and to land adjacent to the CMA where it may enter the waters of the CMA from stormwater outfalls located between Port Dorset on the Miramar Peninsula and Owhiro Bay on Wellington’s south coast.

Coastal permits [27418], [27419], [30500] and [30501] are considered Discretionary activities under the Regional Coastal Plan for the Wellington Region (RCP). In addition, to being considered discretionary activities, permits [27419] and [30501] are also considered to be Restricted Coastal Activities (RCA’s) under the RCP.
