Irrigation season extension
Greater Wellington has extended the period for consent holders to take water until the end of May following a request from the Wairarapa Drought Committee this week.

Greater Wellington is prosecuting Wairarapa landowner Selwyn McLachlan and farm manager Matthew Honeysett following an incident in which dairy effluent entered a tributary of the Ruamahanga River behind Gordon Street, Masterton.
Possum control programme - Korokoro Valley, Belmont Regional Park
From Monday 27April 2009, Greater Wellington is extending its possum and rat control programme in Korokoro Valley. Most of this area is currently treated for possums and rats. Controlling these pests in this area provides ongoing protection for native birds that have become established since the last poison operation.
Paremata rabbit control planned
The Greater Wellington Regional Council will be doing a rabbit control operation on the land directly opposite the Paremata Railway Station over the railway lines from 27 April 2009. Greater Wellington is controlling rabbits to help protect the native plants that local volunteer groups will be planting this winter.
Ki Uta Ki Tai - Restoration Day 2009
It's time to register for Restoration Day, a day of free seminars and workshops held each year for individuals and community groups who are currently working on environmental restoration projects in the Wellington region.
Toilet demolition postponed
