New Zealand Historic Places Trust Heritage Award

This Award acknowledges groups, organisations and individuals protecting and enhancing the history of the Wellington region for future generations.

Eligibility

There are two categories in this award - non-profit and government/corporate. Projects eligible for an award include restoring historic buildings, recording oral history, compiling an archive collection, telling the stories of historic places or events; redeveloping a cultural practice, or sympathetically developing and protecting an archaeological site.

Criteria

  • Preservation and enhancement of any physical attributes, stories, and cultural values. (including tangata whenua values)
  • Communication, education and advocacy of historic and cultural heritage sites and their values
  • Long-term project sustainability
