New one-stop site to be launched soon
The Hutt River has a huge influence on the lives of Hutt residents.
This year it will be even easier to find out about water quality, whether toxic algae is a problem, and to get tips on water safety and information about the weather.
A new one-stop Summer Check site is being developed following feedback over the past few years and from people who attended a series of seminars about toxic algae last year.
In response to this feedback, GWRC pulled together a regional working party comprising public health and local authorities.
The working party has come up with a new approach to informing people about toxic algae and other risks when they are at the river.
The Summer Check campaign includes a website that can be accessed by scanning the QR code on the Summer Check sign with a smart phone at popular river sites around the region.
Watch out for more information about Summer Check in the next few weeks.
