Route letter codes provided in this table are intended as guides to identification only. No decisions have been made about future route numbers/names.

 

A) North-South Spine

A: Churton Park/Grenada Village/Johnsonville West - Johnsonville - Wellington - Newtown - Berhampore - Island Bay

Core bus route with local branches to Churton Park, Johnsonville West or Grenada Village. Buses from the local branches combine together at Johnsonville to form a high frequency north-south bus spine between Johnsonville, Wellington, Newtown and Island Bay. This route would operate on the Rapid Bus Spine between Wellington and Newtown.

From Churton Park to Johnsonville

Melksham Dr, Westchester Dr, Halswater Dr, Abilene Cres, Cambrian St, Chisbury St, Chorley Gr, Hawtree Tce, Clifford Rd, Basset Rd to Johnsonville Hub and then on to Wellington via North-South Spine.

C5: Strathmore Park - Seatoun - Miramar

Beacon Hill Shuttle peak time route providing additional coverage of the Beacon Hill area of Strathmore Park, connecting with express buses C1 and C2 at Broadway for travel to and from Wellington.

D) Miramar and universities

Local bus route linking the northern area of Miramar to the proposed East-West Spine at Miramar Shops. At peak times Route D will extend to and from Karori (Universities Extension) providing additional travel options. Express buses will also operate between Miramar North and Wellington at peak times (Route D1).

D: Miramar

Darlington Road, Rotherham Tce, Park Rd to Miramar Ave.

Dx (universities extension): Miramar - Newtown - Kelburn - Karori

At peak times Route D will operate between Miramar and Karori linking Victoria University, Massey University and Wellington High School, Wellington Hospital, Newtown and Kilbirnie via;

E) Airport

E: Lower Hutt - Wellington - Hataitai - Kilbirnie - Wellington Airport

No changes are proposed by Greater Wellington Regional Council to the current route 91 at this time. Wellington Airport is served by an exempt service currently provided commercially by NZ Bus who may vary the service with 15 days’ notice to GWRC. In the event that NZ Bus chose to cease operating this service, a service from Wellington Station to the Wellington Airport would be provided by GWRC.

 

 

F) Lyall Bay and Rongotai

F: Lyall Bay/Rongotai – Kilbirnie – Newtown - Wellington

Core bus route with local branches to Lyall Bay and Rongotai. Buses from the local branches combine together at Onepu Road to form a high frequency bus route between Kilbirnie, Newtown and Wellington serving Wellington Hospital and Massey University.

From Lyall Bay to Onepu Road

Hungerford Rd, Queens Dr, Rua St, Lyall Parade to Onepu Rd and then on to Wellington via combined route.

From Rongotai to Onepu Road

Tirangi Road, Airport Retail Park, Lyall Parade to Onepu Rd and then on to Wellington via combined route.

Victoria University Access – Between Wellington Station and Kelburn additional trips will be run to provide a frequent weekday shuttle every few minutes at peak time and every 15 minutes during the day between Wellington Station and Victoria University Kelburn campus for connections to and from northern buses and trains. Routes (L) and (M) combine together between Karori Tunnel and Kelburn to provide a frequent shuttle between Karori Tunnel and Victoria University for transfer to and from Karori buses.
