This bright green plant usually scrambles across the ground in wetlands and wet pasture but sometimes grows out across water up to 40cm deep. It spreads by growing a new plant every time a seed head touches the soil.
Isolepis prolifer is a very common species in freshwater and is often mistaken for an introduced weed.
