Over the summer time we offer a range of activities and walks throughout the regional parks. Information on these can be found in our events calendar. If you wish to stay up to date with our summer happenings email firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up for our online newsletter.
Join us for a rare chance to explore the lush native forests and crystal clear rivers of the Wainuiomata/Orongorongo water catchment, a beautiful area not usually open to the public. We offer two different free guided walks in this area.
In this guided walk you'll find out how we harvest the fresh river water and transport it to our communties. Our guides will entertain and inform you about the role the area plays in providing water for Wellington.
Old Forest Walks
Immerse yourself in our pristine lowland native forest, one of the most significant lowland podocarp forests in the lower North Island and an area rich in bird and plant species.
Walking tour dates for next season will be advertised November 2017. Fore more information check out our Wainuiomata Guided Walking Tours page.
Our park rangers are happy to show you around the park, especially if it is your first time! Just contact the park ranger to sort out an agreeable time (subject to ranger availability).
