Green Business Award

Guidelines for nominations

This award acknowledges businesses that have recently started on their sustainability journey (less than one year). Successful businesses will be seeking to improve their environmental performance, reduce their carbon footprint, and adopt more sustainable approaches to their energy, waste or transport management. Businesses may also be raising staff awareness or encouraging behaviour change within their workforce.

Applications and judging

Applications open in June and close in September. For more information download the Green Business Award application form. Email completed application forms along with any photos to awards@gw.govt.nz.

Winners are selected by a judging panel including a councillor, a senior member of Greater Wellington's staff and an external expert.

Criteria

Key factors considered include:

• Measures to improve environmental performance, or better manage waste, energy and transport impacts
• Steps taken to reduce carbon emissions
• Measures to raise staff awareness of environmental issues and encourage behaviour change

Awards presentation

The award will be announced and presented at a function hosted by Greater Wellington in early December. The winner will receive a certificate and $500. Merit awards may also be made to suitable candidates.
