Feet fiesta

A week-long celebration of the power of feet is about to take place in schools around the region.

“Movin’ March” from 22 to 26 March is a series of fun events, such as fancy feet parades and wheels days, run by schools to applaud young walkers, cyclists, scooter riders and skateboarders for their contribution to the region’s environmental and physical wellbeing.

If your child hasn’t walked or cycled to school before, this could be the perfect opportunity to start. Even if children walk only part of the way, or walk, cycle or scoot to school once a week, they arrive generally more settled and happier than those who are driven all the way. And they’re learning valuable road safety skills while helping to reduce traffic congestion and pollution.
