Disaster Awareness Week

Are you prepared for an emergency?

Disaster Awareness Week runs from 12th October - 18th October 2009. This is a great time to make sure you are prepared for an emergency both at home and at work!

How do I get prepared?

To be prepared for an emergency you need to do the following:

  1. Store emergency water (at least 3 litres per person per day).
  2. Have emergency survival items (such as food, torch and spare batteries).
  3. Have a household emergency plan.

You need to make sure that you are also prepared when you are not at home.

To be prepared at work make sure you have the following handy:

  1. Any essential personal items (such as medication).
  2. Suitable walking shoes and socks.
  3. Warm clothing/waterproof jacket.
  4. Food.
  5. Water.
  6. Torch with spare batteries.
  7. Household emergency plan.

How prepared are you and your family?
