D.U.N.E.
Paraparaumu
This group was established and joined the Take Care programme in 2004 to restore a section of dunes at Paraparaumu. In 2009 the group received a further five years funding through the Take Care programme to restore a section of dunes south of the original DUNE site as well as ongoing maintenance at the original site. They have been planting Pingao and Spinifex on the foredunes with the help of the local community and new group members. They also plan to clear weeds and plant ecosourced native species in the back dunes.
The DUNE group are located at Paraparaumu just south of the Waikanae Estuary. Access to the restoration site is via the northern vehicle beach access off Manly Street, Paraparaumu.
