Commercial

The Wellington regional harbourmaster is employed by Greater Wellington and is responsible for overall harbour safety management. The commercial port, operated by CentrePort Wellington Ltd, provides all commercial shipping services. Accordingly a close liaison exists between these two organisations.

The Wellington Harbour Board no longer exists. The functions formally carried out by the harbour board have been split as above.
