Big plans for the Wellington region for the next 10 years
GWRC wants to hear what you think about our Draft 10 Year Plan and will be calling for public submissions from 16 March to 20 April.
Major projects planned for the next decade include improving water quality across the region, investing in public transport and flood protection infrastructure, increasing the region’s ability to withstand an emergency and getting more people on public transport.
To pay for these initiatives, and others in the Draft 10 Year Plan, the council is proposing an annual rates increase of about $38 (73 cents a week) – or 9.8% – for the average residential property. GWRC has maintained the cost of its ‘business as usual’ – or existing services – at a 1.1% rates increase.
GWRC is also proposing to freeze public transport fares this year. For more information, including consultation documents, visit www.gw.govt.nz/have-your-say
