New bus routes - A, A1

Adelaide Road, Luxford Street and Rintoul Street

Buses are to continue providing a frequent service to Adelaide Road, Luxford Street and Rintoul Street as now.  North-South Spine (A) route replaces current route 1 and (A1) replaces current routes 4 and 32 providing a more consistent service.

Higher capacity buses will be introduced to meet demand and reduce bus congestion in the city.

Proposed service levels are as follows:

• Weekday peak – every 2-9 minutes using higher capacity buses (current average is every 4 minutes)
  
  
• Weekday daytime – more regular service every 10 minutes (currently every 12 minutes)
  
  
• Weekday evening – as now (every 15-30 minutes)
  
  
• Saturday – daytime every 15 minutes (currently every 12 minutes), and evening as now (every 30 minutes)
  
  
• Sunday – as now (every 15 minutes daytime and every 30 minutes evening)

North-South Spine bus route (A) will travel through to Thorndon, Kaiwharawhara and Johnsonville providing direct access from Berhampore to these areas.

Britomart Street and Waripori Street

Weekday shopper service to cease serving Britomart and Waripori Streets. Affected residents will be within 5 minute walk of an alternative frequent bus service on Adelaide Road and Rintoul Street.
